How would you feel if you never again had to worry about your dog running away, knocking over your guests, or generally being out of control?
Treat Dispensing Toys Why give your dog treat dispensing toys? Read this article on the benefits of making your dog think and using interactive toys. These are also great ways for dogs that eat really fast to slow down a bit. Check Youtube for videos of how these toys work. Kong Wobbler or Pyramid Toy - This toy is best for dogs 25lbs or larger (big toy) although they may make smaller sizes. Squirrel Dude - Fun treat dispensing toy. Tricky Treat Ball - Fun treat dispensing toy that your dog must roll around to get their kibble or treats. IQ Treat Ball - You get to choose how simple or difficult it is for your dog to get to the treats because it is adjustable! Busy Buddy Twist & Treat - This is a great toy for dogs who have never played with a treat dispensing toy or is not highly food motivated. It makes it easier for dogs to get the treats or kibble out. Nina Ottson Puzzle Games - These are games with different difficulty levels to fit your dog. Fetching Toys Water Wubba - Our favorite toy for dock jumping and fetching out of the water! High visibility, always floats even when full of water. Great design! Hartz Flexafoam Ball - Something about the material this ball is made of, my dogs love it and don’t typically care to try to destroy it (at least not quickly). Ruffian - I have several of these toys and none of them have been destroyed and they still squeak after 6 months of more of use. They are fun fetch toys as they bounce funny but the noise some of them makes is quite awful (to us humans anyway), so if you want to watch tv while your dog is playing with it, good luck. But don’t let that turn you off because your dog will go nuts for this toy, and its a great reward while working on recall training. Comes in different shapes and sizes. Kong Squeaky Tennis Balls - These tennis balls are a bit tougher to destroy than your average ball due to the fact that when a dog bites down it springs back into place rather than destroying the material. While they only squeak for a short time in my house, they aren’t destroyed like other cheap tennis balls. They come in three sizes as well as different shaped toys like dumbbells, rope ball combo, donuts, bones and footballs. Kong Ball - Great bouncy rubber ball that your tennis ball destroyer won’t destroy. Would you like to get started playing frisbee with your dog? Start with a soft disc like the Aerobie Dogobie which can be found online and at most places that sell frisbees like Sports Authority or Air Traffic Kites & Games (call for availability). Once your dog is comfortable playing with that, you can begin switching to other frisbees designed for dogs like the Hyperflite or Jawz discs depending on your dogs bite. (Almost) Indestructible Dog Toys Indestructibone - OK, this is pretty darn close to indestructible! It’s still completely in one piece after over a year in my house with several heavy chewers. It also has a replacement guarantee! Worth the money! Goghnuts - Again, very close to indestructible with a guarantee! Worth the money! West Paw Toys - Again, very close to indestructible! Bionic Pet Toys - Not quite as durable, but last a relatively long time in my home. If your dog eats pieces of toys, be sure to supervise. Jolly Pets Toys (Large ball without the handle, bone and small ball with bumps on it) - All pretty durable and fun toys. Elk Antlers - A great natural chew. Typically your dog will only chew out the center and slowly the antler may get smaller, but it’s a long lasting chew for most dogs. Tug Toys Lucky Paws dog training encourages owners and dogs to play tug together because it is a good control exercise and a lot of fun for your dog when taught correctly. Before teaching your dog to tug, you should first have a command for your dog to drop the toy. Once your dog will reliably release the toy, you can begin playing tug. Tugging does not cause aggressiveness in dogs when you play appropriately. Soft Tug & Treat - Is your dog not a big tugger? Help encourage your dog to tug with this food pouch tug toy! Fur Tug - Some dogs go nuts for tugs with fur! Fleece Braided Tug - Sturdy braided fleece tug toy. Bungee Bar - This toy is fun for your dog and helps to make tugging more comfortable for the owner. Other Toys Chase It Toy or Tail Teaser - Great for dogs that like to chase small animals. This will wear your dog out quickly! JW Pet Rubber Squeaky Toys - Terribly obnoxious, but highly durable runner squeaky toys. These toys have lasted my dogs years! Outward Hound Stuffing Free Snake - The sqeakers last quite a while and dogs love it! Chew Toys/Bones Dogs with chews/bones should always be monitored for eating large chunks that could be come stuck in their intestines. If you have an intense chewer who likes to eat large pieces, bones are not recommended. The Kong - This is a great toy for pretty much any dog. Stuff it with treats, peanut butter, or kibble (click here for kong recipes) to give your dog something to lick at and chew on for a while. Comes in different sizes and materials for different chewing intensities even including senior and puppy kongs. Bully Sticks - These are a decent bone for your dogs to chew. Its not for intense chewers (dogs that are intense chewers need to be monitored closely for swallowing large pieces and not given bones if they do), but holds up well for your average chewer. Stuffed Bones - I always have hard bones with filling laying around the house. The dogs chew them casually but don’t find them valuable enough to argue over so they can be out all the time. You can find them filled with different flavors or with no filling. These are pet store marrow bones, not ones you get from a butcher. Raw Beef Bones - Click here for more information about feeding raw bones. We use them regularly to keep teeth clean and for an engaging thing to do while the dogs need to be confined. Himalayan Chews - These are long lasting chews dogs love. Antler Chews - Long lasting and tasty chews. Everlasting Treat Ball - Ok, so it isn’t everlasting, but it will last a while with moderate chewers. Durachew Nylabones or Big Chews - Good for strong chewers!

These are also great ways for dogs that eat really fast to slow down a bit. Check Youtube for videos of how these toys work. Kong Wobbler or Pyramid Toy - These toys are very similar but the Pyramid Toy it seems is a little more of a challenge due to the placement of the opening, so if your dog is experienced with treat dispensing toys, you may want to give that one a try. This toy is best for dogs 25lbs or larger (its a big toy). Kong Wobbler can be found at most pet stores, Pyramid Toy online. Squirrel Dude - Fun treat dispensing toy. Found online or at Petsmart. High visibility, always floats even when full of water. Great design! Hartz Flexafoam Ball - Something about the material this ball is made of, my pack doesn’t care to try to destroy it. I think it feels something like nails on a chalkboard sounds when they try to chew on it. Ryder loves this and it still squeaks after many months. Ruffian - The favorite toy of my Rottweiler Mya, I have several of these toys and none of them have been destroyed and they still squeak after 6 months of more of use. Comes in different shapes and sizes and can be found at Petsmart. Astro Squeaky Ball - This squeaky ball is made of heavy duty yet light weight material which allows it to collapse completely when a dog bites down on it when catching it mid-air, retrieving it, etc, but as soon as the pressure is off, it springs right back into shape and is ready for more squeaky play. It also floats! Can be found at Fleet Farm. Kong Squeaky Tennis Balls - These tennis balls are a bit tougher to destroy than your average ball due to the fact that when a dog bites down it springs back into place rather than destroying the material. While they only squeak for a few weeks in my house, they aren’t destroyed like other cheap tennis balls. They come in three sizes as well as different shaped toys like dumbbells, rope ball combo (Ryder’s fave!), donuts, bones and footballs.
