In-Home Training & Behavior Counseling In-home training is great for those who prefer one on one attention to the classroom environment, can't fit a group class into their schedule, or for tackling more complex behavioral issues. These private in-home (or in the area the behavior is occurring) sessions will help with things like: Basic Obedience Jumping Up Coming when called Walking nicely on leash - without barking at other dogs or chasing squirrels Excessive Barking Fearful Behavior Aggressive Behavior Toward People & Dogs Puppy Selection Temperament Testing Other behavioral issues The initial consultation is typically one hour. During this time we discuss the behavior(s), your goals, and begin to come up with a training plan. Depending on the complexity of the behavior, hands on training may or may not start during this session. Each session after the initial consultation generally lasts one hour depending on the behavior(s) that are being addressed. Not only do we work with your dog, but we also give you the tools you need in order to get positive results while training the dog yourself. Number of sessions needed will vary, depending on your dogs current level of training, your dogs personality, and how long your dog has been practicing the behavior. This will be discussed during the initial consultation. Please contact us with any questions or fill out our In-Home Training Request Form to get started with In-Home Training. In-Home Training Cost (1 hour session): 1-4 sessions - $80 per session 5-9 sessions - $70 per session 10 or more - $65 per session Puppy or Adult Dog Selection We can help you find the right dog for you! For those looking to purchase a puppy from a breeder:  We will help you decide if the breed you want is a good match for your lifestyle, find a reputable breeder who breeds for both sound temperament and good health, and choose the right puppy from that breeder, because even within a litter, each dog can be very different. For those looking to adopt a puppy or adult dog from a shelter/rescue: We will help you decide on a group of breeds or breed mixes that will be a good fit for your family, and find the specific dog best suited for you. This process involves discussions with the rescue/shelter as well as a temperament test. Temperament Testing If you already have your dog, temperament testing can help evaluate your newly adopted dog or puppy to determine what aspects of training and socialization are going to be most important for you to address. It may also determine the potential for future behavioral issues. Service Area Lucky Paws serves most of the Twin Cities Metro area. Heather spent several weeks with Cooper and successfully taught him all the basic commands, bell training for housetraining and he is responding very well when we run into squirrels.  She was very diligent and thorough in her transition training of me and is always available for questions and further training if/when necessary.  I would highly recommend Heather as a trainer - sometimes I actually think Cooper likes her more than me!
